Ryzenberg On: Blown Away

If pampering is part of your weekend plans, then stop by the Dry Bar to relax, sip a cocktail and get pretty. The Bay Area is lucky to have three fantastic locations, and a few weeks ago, I spent the morning at their newest Palo Alto franchise.

I enjoyed the royal treatment of a drink, cookies and even enjoyed watching Pretty in Pink. Once my usual boring and flat hair was big and beautiful, I twirled for hours on end. It was nice to sport a playful look, considering 90 percent of the time, I sport it on a bun or pony tail.

If your hair is curly or somewhat unruly, the stylists have an array of options and ideas to choose from. What’s best is that you can even buy a services’ package and even plan a blowout party with your favorite gal pals.

There are no cuts or colors and it’s simply perfect for a night out, date night or simply to feel pretty. Another bonus? You won’t have to wash your hair for a few days, so it’s cost-effective too!

Ryzenberg On: Tacori Royalty Treatment

Diamonds — for some they are friends while for others foes. Usually the karats I come across with are more like ‘carrots,’ so when I had the chance to get up close and personal with Tacori and its wonders, I simply said, ‘sign me up.’

Here is the deal: As I walked to meet the brands during Lucky FABB, I was blindly stopped at the iconic jeweler’s corner by its exquisite collection of baubles. At first, I was a bit bashful and simply chatted with the brand reps and Senior Vice President of Marketing and PR Michelle Adorjan, while I of course, oooeed and ahhheed at every piece present.

Shortly afterwards, I decided to feel the baubles and even asked if I could try them on. Expecting a ‘no, they are just here to be looked at,’ I was majorly surprised when Michelle shared the fact that no one at the conference had tried on this $500,000 hexagon-shaped diamond necklace. I must add that Kate Beckinsale wore the earrings from this set to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where she looked like a million bucks!

Needless to say, all bashfulness was out the door and I played princess for five minutes. What an unforgettable experience and it’s oh so hard to forget. Of course, my gal Amy of Amy’s Vintage Closet documented the act and soon after we dubbed the Tacori area, the “Yolo Lounge” because, after all, You Only Live Once.

This could very well be the only chance I will have to become besties with the diamonds, so made it a memorable one.

Holding Precious Cargo: Michelle and I chatting about the half a million dollar bauble and she was like ‘feel how light it is.’

A Girl Can Dream: Ryzenberg On’s Holly Golightly moment!

Step and Repeat: Sporting the beauty and showing its versatility! I mean, casual or glam — this is one piece de resistance sure to be a show stopper.

Yolo: We had to! I mean this girl witness my oh, la la moment and

Token of Love: Though the diamonds went back to where they belong (a vault, I assume), I was received this little treat on the mail just a few days ago. Thank you Tacori for such an unforgettable experience and I look forward to more shining moments and milestones with you alls.

Ryzenberg On: Dots & Pops

I know there are a smorgasbord of trends on this post, but if combined properly, it can indeed be a hit and provide a sprinkle of sassiness to any ensemble. I decided to add a dash of neon with the sandals and matching belt (inadvertently) and some metallics with the clutch.

Though it wasn’t appropriate to parade around in a polka dot bikini all day, I grabbed the next best thing out of my closet, a dotted sleeveless blouse that is almost a neutral. The chunky necklace simply adds fierceness and ties it all together.

If you feel this is a bit much , switch the green bottoms for white pants, or even a lighter denim. I tend to experiment when it comes to the color combos, but know that for some this could be overkill!

Ryzenberg On: Greener Sartorial Pastures

Happy Earth Day! Today is all about Madre Natura, its riches and beautiful traits it offers. If you are not the garden planting type or beach clean-off fanatic, there is a simpler way to show our earth some love — wear green and neutrals.

It’s that time of the year when the weather is rather fickle, (San Francisco is experiencing glorious weather) but don’t be fooled, because some layering is still a must for me. However, the temperatures are still below the Dew Point some places, so here are easy and fun ways to change into more spring or fall (for those south of the Equator).

image

Poppy Pops: Ms. Delevigne rocks the all black ensemble with a pop of green — simple, chic and fun.

image

Celine it All: Everyone’s favorite bag (remember when I wrote about it way back in the day?) gets a lively makeover for the warmer months. I also dig the smaller silhouette!

             image

Kate the Great: The starlet wore this Proenza Schouler stunner to their NYC flagship opening back during Spring Fashion Week in September. Such a timeless look that works wonders for the gams. Not warm enough for sandals? No worries, tights and booties also fit the bill!

Hints of Green: Though this look doesn’t revolve around green, love the top and how well it works for a mid-season pick me up!

Ryzenberg On: Pucker Up, Ladies

Read my lips: What a fun night! Last week, I was invited to Bare Minerals’ lipstick launch party at a posh bar in San Francisco and the soiree turned out to be quite memorable.

Held at the uber swanky Chambers Lounge, this event was filled with delicious libations, cupcakes, lovely bloggers and of course makeup. We all got to preview the Moxie lip line and, if I say so myself, they had a wonderful selection of hues.

My gal Alba glammed me up with a pink shade called ‘Risk it All,’ and from the first pucker, I was hooked. As if the tutorial wasn’t enough, we all left with a Stella & Dot goodie bag filled with our favorite colors.

Great seeing all of my bloggistas and meeting the Bare Minerals team. Emily, Quinta, Ashley, Alba and Alison — y’alls will be hearing and seeing a lot of me, as I know another girls’ night out needs to be planned.

I am sealing this post with a very special smooch!

Ryzenberg On: The BF Jean is my BFF

I finally put to good use my Paige Denim gift certificate I received last year at LA’s lucky FABB. I must say that after pondering on whether to go for prints, (like these beautiful butterflies) skinnies or cutoffs, I followed my instinct and went for the uber popular BOYFRIEND JEAN.

So here is the deal, I went to their Robertson boutique a few weeks ago and browsed through their entire selection pretty meticulously. I asked the sales gal to show me her favorite loose fitting jeans, since I already had their Skyline style and was looking for something different.

The first pair I tried on where the James Crop and I immediately loved their soft feel and versatility. This was, in fact, a true contender.

The second pair was Jimmy Jimmy which is more distressed and bit darker. I liked it, but didn’t feel would work as much, considering I don’t want to look like I am off to the next heavy metal concert (or a Rock of Love contestant), or 15 years old. It was cool, but wasn’t 100 percent me. This one didn’t made the cut.

The third (and last) was the Lydia — A nice middle-of-the-ground James and Jimmy Jimmy. It had fewer rips, was full-length and looked very cute with the Sam Edelman booties I pretty much wear everyday.

It was down to the final two and after pretty much taking a Gallup poll from the sales gal, I went with the James. My rationale was that these jeans work well for summer, are good for the mild SF weather (excluding rain and those two days in December when it’s freezing) and I thought I was going to get more bang for my back.

I was right. After purchasing these beauties 10 days ago, I wore them all of last weekend (check Instagram) and will be on heavy rotation, whether dressed up with heels for a hot date (I mean, they are boyfriend jeans, after all) or more low-key with loafers and a tank.

No boyfriend in sight? Get a pair of boyfriend jeans. They won’t give you one-word answers, play games ask for coffee and more importantly, they will make you look and feel your best.

Last weekend’s staple:

Ryzenberg On: Vintage Wonderland

I guess it was one of those ‘love at first sight moments.’ I was walking on Valencia Street in the Mission, aimlessly looking for the newest and best until, long and behold, I sport a Clare Vivier bag in the window of a recently opened shop.

If you’ve either met me or read the dog-and-pony-show for a bit, you know Clare’s creations are on top of my sartorialisms and coveteables. This LA-based designer knows her way around leather and creates colorful, timeless designs that are versatile and divine. I have two clutches and so far, they have gone with me around the country and I am sure more adventures are afloat.

Soon after, I knew that was a sign. I had to go into the store and see what other marvels were in stock, and boy, was I lucky. Tucked inside a vintage boutique, Schatzi is decorator’s paradise filled with vintage one-of-a-kind pieces and antique delights.

I chatted with the owners Kevin and Charles for a few hours about what prompted opening such a ‘local gem.’ Both of these lads have extensive design backgrounds and are avid collectors, so after years of amassing beautiful pieces, they felt it was time to give them another home. They thought the back of the vintage shop Schauplatz was pretty perfect for their venture.

I am telling you, these pictures do not do the actual place any justice. You will be transformed to a different time, like a beautiful 1980s home or a hideaway in Palm Springs. Each vignette is carefully conceptualized and executed by Charles and Kevin, and they feature pieces found all over the country in flea markets, estate sales and simple hunts. As for the prices, there are plenty of pieces sure to satisfy those opting frugal finds, and event those that are ready to splurge.

Next time you are strolling by your favorite neighborhood, if a window display catches your eye, do not hesitate to see what’s all about. Not only did I walk away with a new store to rave about, I also made new friends but I look forward to bringing all of my decorista pals for a visit.

Ryzenberg On: Coachella Sartorialisms

Once a year, thousands of music fans flock to the desert for what has unofficially become the start of music festival season. Of course I am referring to Coachella.

This all-star parade of celebs, models and fashionistas often sets the bar pretty high for concerts and outdoor fun sartorialisms. Because I know how exhausting it is to look at hundreds of images of gorgeous people frolicking in the sun, I picked a handful of photos that show that laid-back California style as its best.

                  image

Tie Dyes and Flowing Dresses: It doesn’t get more Coachella than this look. Perfect for sitting down on the lawn and dealing with 100-plus temperatures. I am also a fan of the ethereal braids.

    image

Perfection. Period: This soft lace little number paired with oversized sunnies brings a bit of glamour to the polo fields. A denim jacket is a must, since temperatures dip to the 60s or even 50s at night.

    image

Cutoffs and Stripes: You thought I wasn’t going to feature this? Well, I guess you don’t know me at all! Also love the stacks (both arms) and fringe bag, which always reminds me of Stevie Nicks.

                       image

Prints & Textures: This look is about combining a variety of spring trends and doing them right. Colorful bag: Check, Crop top: Done and booties: Mission accomplished.

If you plan on going to any of the fun festivals this season, I give you the bare (but stylish) necessities:

Ryzenberg On: Getting Lucky at LuckyFABB Day 2

The second day at LuckyFABB was more of a learning, exploring, networking event filled with informative panels, amazing gifting suites and of course, new gals!

I started the day mingling with Amy from Amy’s Vintage Closet, Danielle from Lou What Wear and Ashley from Golden Divine and attended a chat with Guess North America Advertising Director Andrea Chao, who gave us all the tricks of the trade when it comes to pitching brands.

Soon after, I learned about affiliate programs and blog marketing from the CEO at Beso, and got a few new ideas and the juices flowing for this dog-and-pony show.

As if this wasn’t good enough, I spent the afternoon mingling with brands and visiting the incredible gift suites to find out about collaboration prospects, trends and good inspiration.

What an incredible two days it was and expect a lot of additional coverage, considering I have nearly 500 photos I want to share with y’alls! (but not all at once, I mean everything in moderation)
