Ryzenberg On: Oscar, Oscar, Who Are You Wearing?

It was a night filled with stars, glamour, tears of joy and of course — Fashion. The 84th Academy Awards sure left a mark and some of Hollywood’s elite donned their Sunday best. The carpet was filled with color, baubles, slits and capes and none of the sartorial choices were disappointing.

Here are my top picks:

Kristen Wiig in J.Mendel - The ‘SNL’ comedianne and Best Actress nominee for ‘Bridesmaids’ chose a strapless nude chiffon gown that was regal and stunning. I also love the hair down, dark mani, Judith Leiber clutch and stacks of Neil Lane bracelets. This gal’s red carpet choices are no laughing matter!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford - This look is fit for a movie star. The Oscar winner took a risk by wearing a floor-length white gown accompanied by a cape that sure was the talk of the night. She finished the look with a pony tail and simple makeup, a diamond cuff and Jimmy Choo heels. This is an iconic look that will be talked about, emulated and sure serve as inspiration for many stars and designers alike.

Stacy Keibler in Marchesa - George Clooney’s better half sure sparkled in this Marchesa off-the-shoulder number, which, by the way, is straight out of the Fall/Winter runway. She truly looked like a goddess with her hair parted to the side and stunning makeup. The look was complete with a Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Emma Stone in Gianbatistta Valli - Hollywood’s fashion it-girl chose and Oscar presenter chose a flowing scarlet gown that complemented her vibrant red hair. She topped the look with Louis Vuitton rubies and a minaudiere and wore her hair in a lovely chignon.

Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen - The Best Supporting Actress nominee for ‘The Help’ wore a black strapless gown with intricate embroidery and a dramatic train. She accessorized with $2 million worth of Harry Winston baubles.

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace - The Oscar winner (and her right leg) caused a frenzy in this velvet creation. Now this, ladies and gentlemen is ‘va va voom’ at its finest. The look was complemented with red lips, custom Salvatore Ferragamo velvet pumps, a Jaime Mascaro bag and Neil Lane jewels.

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton - The Best Actress nominee for ‘My Week With Marilyn’ wore a tangerine silk and organza strapless gown with a peplum waist. The look was completed with Fred Leighton for Forevermark necklace that featured more than 30 carats worth of diamonds, a vintage brooch and a pink Bottega Veneta clutch.

Cameron Diaz in GucciThis cutie wore a gorgeous off-white mermaid gown that showed her toned arms and accentuated her fit physique. To top off her look, the presenter had $800,000 worth of diamonds from Tiffany & Co. and simple hair.

Viola Davis in Vera Wang - The Best Actress nominee for ‘The Help’ chose a bright green Vera Wang creation for her red carpet moment that features an embroidered neckline and silk details. The actress also wore a diamond cuff, a silver clutch and matching emerald earrings.

Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood - The ‘Bridesmaids’ star and Oscars presenter went for a sparkly black one-shoulder creation that featured a bare back. The sassy Aussi accessorized with Chanel earrings and Jimmy Choo heels. Really like the 1920s feel this look brings and the bob suits Ms. Byrne perfectly.

Ryzenberg On: Golden Globes’ Golden Looks

Awards season is in full force and everyone donned their Sunday best at the Golden Globes. ‘The Artist,’ ‘The Descendants,’ ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Homeland were the night’s big winners, and all of Hollywood’s gliterati sure shined.

Champaign colored dresses and classic tuxes dominated the red carpet, as some stars who opted to make a splash with a pop of color. Black is always a popular choice, always managing to make a cameo at all the right times!

Here are my top eight of the night:

Salma Hayek in Gucci S/S 2012 — Straight from the runway, Frida (Giannini, not Kahlo) is definitely smiling as Salma’s hubby is Gucci’s head honcho. I love sequins and this feistly Mexican (and dream of most pre-pubescent Mexican boys) sure knows how to show off her best assets.

Angelina Jolie in Versace Atelier — The epitome of Hollywood glam and color blocking. My birthday twin (yup, we are both June 4) rocked this ensemble by combining her red lipstick with the dress’ collar. This, ladies and gentleman, is how the trend gets done!

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen — She looks like a ‘Red Hot Momma’ in this mermaid gown, which is a hit. I guess the only thing I would have tweaked on this look is the hair, as it would have been great to see it parted to the side with defined waves. The beachy locks somewhat make it look a bit too casual.

Emma Stone in Lanvin — So stunning and love the color contrast with her hair and smoky eyes. She is also a young actress and a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her sartorial selections. Oh yeah, and did you know she is also the newest Revlon girl?

Jessica Beil in Elie Saab — The hair color is great and the taffeta looks fantastic. Her fit physique really makes her look like a knock out in a long sleeve gown. I also love her dark hair.

Jessica Alba in Gucci — Very elegant and classic. This mom of 2 sure knows how the steal the spotlight. I really hope when I have rugrats to look like this in just a matter of months.

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang — OK, I am biased, but this Latina always nails it! Va Va Vooom in all the right places, as she knows how to accentuate those curvas! I also love the hair parted to the side and the Harry Winston baubles.

Charlize Theron in Dior — This South African stunner always takes risks at red carpets. She’s been wearing ruffles and bows for a few seasons now, but I really like the train on this gown. The whole look works well with her statement Givenchy heels and simple, yet flawless makeup. J’ adore.
