Ryzenberg On: Freshly Squeezed Fashion

I need a pick-me-up today…sugar, caffeine, a hug. But one thing that always bring a smile to my face is COLOR and that is why I spontaneously asked to take a photo at the juice aisle during a recent trip to Target.

Seriously, there is nothing special — I am just checking the phone (as I tend to do every .34 seconds daily), but I just wanted to share a simple snap that captures my essence!

Ryzenberg On: Winter by the Bay

San Francisco winters are very unique in many aspects. It’s normally clear, brisk and very fresh and the temperatures rarely drop below 55 degres (bonus).

For those few days when the Dew drops, a warm sweater, a good pair of boots and a hat will cure all chills.

My recent interpretation of a winter wonderland

Ryzenberg On: Military Prep

A few months ago, I spent an afternoon at San Francisco’s City Hall with my good friend Eli from Thrift Eye. It was my first time inside this fantastic building and let my just say, the staircase and dome left me mesmerized with all of the intricate details and special touches.

We both enjoyed watching a variety of people ready to say ‘I do’ to others just doing their daily errands. Of course, a photo op is always a good excuse and I guess my ensemble somewhat represents the architecture — classic yet bold and with special touches.

Burgundy is a fantastic color and these pants are a great alternative to those ‘I don’t feel like wearing jeans’ days or for the office. As for the shirt, plaid is always a treat and this particular pattern is perfect for spring and fall.

The Oxfords are perfect for that school-boy feel that is always timeless, and also a nice flat to have for those days were a lot of walking is involved.

Remember to dress up the look with bold baubles and a nice jacket for those crisp nights.

This look is all about combining different trends — classic, military and sparkle. Call it collegiate if you want, but this combo gets an A+ for comfort and style.

Ryzenberg On: Greatest Stacks

So another month comes to an end, (hello July) and the dog days of Summer are officially on — albeit, I would prefer it was an endless summer.

I must say that the long summer days are indeed my favorite time of year! I mean, who doesn’t like long days, 9pm sunsets (even in SF) and opening your window for a nice breeze every morning.

Living in the Bay Area, the weather can be a bit schizophrenic, but one thing that I am loyal to rain or shine, is my signature ‘stack’ on my left arm. I often change it and add some bold bracelets or keep it simple for an elegant feel. It’s rather polarizing as most people either love it, or simply keep mum, but to me, it’s just an easy form of expression and a way of combining different styles.

Here are the four stunners I wore last month

Ryzenberg On: My Cotogna Experience

One of the best parts about living in San Francisco is all the culinary adventures one can have. A few weeks ago, I enjoyed a delightful lunch at one of Jackson Square’s gems: Cotogna.

Ryzenberg On: The Madness Returns

After more than a year of waiting, my Sunday nights are back to must-see-TV status! Yuppers, Draper, Sterling et al continue to make me covet being a product of the swingin’ sixties!

Can we discuss the first episode for a moment? Seriously, aside from the fantastic fashions, Zou Bissou Bissou (still in my head BTW and don’t you wish you were Monsieur Draper?) babies, quarrels and of course campaigns, I am glad to see an outstanding plot filled with poignant moments that truly transform us to chauvinistic, chain-smoking ad execs in Madison Avenue.

Come on, AMC knows how run the show! I am amazed at how much it resonates with the times, the issues (Vietnam, Cold War, Civil Rights) and how women were objectified at its finest! (OK, some of these things are still happening in the millennial teen years)

But in all seriousness, this drama keeps you wanting more, more, more and shows how greed, selfishness and work habits that are (gasp) less than stellar dominate a society that attempted to fill the void of American Dreams and white picket fences left by the fantastic fifties!

Albeit, these women are no June Cleaver and they certainly don’t vacuum in pearls, but they do so in black lingerie! Merci Beaucoup Mme Draper #2!

One of the standouts of the show are the fashions worn by Peggy, Joan, Betty and Megan. Now thanks to Banana Republic and other stylish retailers, it’s easy to get their wardrobes. The best part? Some of the price tags are budget friendly — even for those of us not living in Park Avenue or Long Island.

If you want to channel your inner Mad Woman, these stylish ensembles are easy to recreate — here are a few of the key pieces needed:
