Ryzenberg On: Flower Power

Hello weekend! I needed a bit of a colorful pick me up, and this morning bought fresh flowers.

Want to spice up your home without re-decorating? Just get some blooms and create bouquets for living room, bedroom, kitchen and even bathroom.

Calla Lilies are perfect for my coffee table. Saw this vase on the Everygirl, scouted it during a recent visit to Venice Beach and will be on rotation for summer. Check out how I styled it earlier this month

I am not a DYIer, but these Ranunculi needed some revitalizing. I switched pots and added a little ribbon for a pop of bright pinks. How perfect and easy is this for a centerpiece!

Chevron Vase: Nate Berkus for Target | Small Pot: Cost Plus World Market.

Another vase on heavy rotation is my Italian syrup container. More chevron courtesy of Bustle Events for attending The Lab Event earlier this year, and the other vase was a yard sale steal for $1.

Mason Jars are the perfect spring vase. One of my friends recently said they are such a ‘hipster’ thing, but I disagree, because they are fun, timeless and perfect for decor or even for a cold glass of water.

Believe me, someone else’s trash is usually my treasure!

Happy weekend and for those celebrating this Sunday, have a marvelous Easter.

Ryzenberg On: Freshly Squeezed Fashion

I need a pick-me-up today…sugar, caffeine, a hug. But one thing that always bring a smile to my face is COLOR and that is why I spontaneously asked to take a photo at the juice aisle during a recent trip to Target.

Seriously, there is nothing special — I am just checking the phone (as I tend to do every .34 seconds daily), but I just wanted to share a simple snap that captures my essence!

Ryzenberg On: Few of My Faves

So happy Friday is here and I know for many, that means a three-day weekend! Hooray. The weather in San Francisco is simply sublime, so I plan on exploring the city, running some errands and seeing old friends.

Need a pick me up before the weekend rolls in? Check out these fantastic images that will sure bring a dash of color and hint of sugar to your life.

Calling a virtual inspiration board! (Yup, I did the pinning for you all….)

Neon Mania: The spontaneity of this picture is simply priceless. Talk about the right time and right place! Synchronicity at its finest….

Recycling Decor: Decided to add a little pizzazz to kitchen and use my used Coke bottles as flower vases!

Mint Cupcakes: This is genius! This a must-try for every sweet lover. Dive in!

Any exciting plans this weekend? Have a fun one and hope you indulge on some of your favorite things.

Ryzenberg On: Seeing Red (& Watching Football)

Game day is here! And for the first time since moving to the U.S. more than 20 years ago, I am living in the actual city going to the Super Bowl!

it’s quite exciting, but what makes this festive Sunday even more of a winning one, are the San Francisco 49ers colors — Red & Gold!

This is a combo that not only is fantastic on the field, but also shines when work casually, for the office or a night out. Remember, when it comes to football and a good ensemble, it all comes down to one thing: Strategy! Plan ahead, combine and test and you will in fact go all the way.

Oh yeah, and this I also mention how much this ooozzes sex appeal? There, I said it…

Can’t wait to eat all of the goodies, watch some tight ends, enjoy the afternoon and of course, watch my gal Beyonce shake what her momma Tina gave her.

image

Classic: Trousers, stylish coat and winter gingham is a killer combo!

                     image

Casual, yet Chic: Of course, the Philip Lim Pashli bag livens any ensemble — fantastic way to transition your reds to the warmer months!

    image

Red & Gold: Is a winner indeed, timeless, elegant and perfect for any evening fete. On and off the field, this look will have anyone feeling like a million bucks.

Piece de resistance: These show stoppers will certainly cause more than a simple stare. But be careful, as these ‘weapons’ can also cause some fumbles if worn incorrectly!

Hope it’s a day filled with excitement and for me, it’s all about city pride. I must say the Raven colors (black and purple) are also one heck of a combo, and I am sure the game antics won’t disappoint.

Ryzenberg On: InstaMemories 1.13

Hello February! Is it me, or did January simply fly by? It seems the older I get, the quicker the months pass and with that being said, I leave you with a few January ‘13 highlights I captured and shared on my Instagram:

1. Dusting off some bikinis and warm weather duds for a visit to the Sunshine State.

2. 30,000 feet up and clear skies while passing through Colorado.

3. One of my favorite gals came to visit me!

4. A delicious piece of Key Lime Pie I indulged in while visiting la familia.

5. Spent a few days in the land of Lily Pulitzer, monograms and mansions.

6. Warm temperatures are the perfect times to sport some brights.

7. Snapping some photos while dining al fresco.

8. Nerds — these little boxes have been a part of my diet for many years

9. Florida was fun, but San Francisco is where the heart is!

What’s best? Seeing the city by the bay front and center on the field for the Super Bowl. I love all of the red and gold all over the city, and everyone is in the spirit of sports. Dogs, cats, babies — everyone is sporting some pride.

Who has it better than SF? Well, no one!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Ryzenberg On: THAT Coat

This J.Crew wonder is officially my winter staple piece! I was lucky to snag it during their wonderful sale and it was too perfect to pass.

So far, I have worn it almost every day in 2013, and each time it becomes quite the show stopper. I recently sporte it at The Lab Event in Sonoma and had to share the pictures with y’alls.

Ryzenberg On: Go Green or Go Home

When Pantone picked emerald green as 2013’s color, I couldn’t help it but get giddy with it. There are so many options, combinations and even ways to sport this lively hue and hit the jackpot.

Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 shows a fantastic way to sport a coat and green pumps. Nothing matchy-matchy about this ensemble and the combination of textures and prints is sublime.

    image

Erdem hits the spot when it comes to clean, effortless looks. Florals wil be with us for most of the year and the green is a perfect accent color that compliments brights and patterns quite nicely!

     image

This Fendi emerald green crossbody handbag is the perfect pop of color for a all-black or neutral look. The gold chains make it chic and elegant, like a bit of the 1980s (the good, of course) all rolled in with an edge of 2013.

Remember that fashion has ups, downs, goods and [sic] bad creations, but it’s all about the greener pastures that make you feel happy, confident and beautiful.

Ryzenberg On: Catwalk of Nations

After seven years of waiting, planning, spending and fighting, the London 2012 Olympics are finally here. The Opening Ceremonies were quite the spectacle celebrating the United Kingdom’s roots, achievements and rich history.

The festivities also stirred some controversy, (union workers parading along with human rights pioneers and socialized healthcare) but also painted a colorful and cheery image of a country mostly known for its empirical dominance throughout centuries.

Of course, no British homage would be complete without a little bit of The Beatles and Shakespeare. Sir Kenneth Branagh did the honors of reciting the opening scene of the ‘Tempest,’ which was also director Danny Boyle’s inspiration for the event.

Aside from time traveling, there was something that caught my attention even more, despite the fireworks, James Bond’s grand entrance, Mr. Bean and of course BECKS, — I am referring to the Parade of Nations.

For me, this is the highlight, the start of the two-week affair before the medals are won, the records are set and the doping makes headlines. This is the time when everyone smiles and struts their stuff with their best foot forward.

Some of the teams that stood out (for me):

Team USA: The Red, White and Blue will always be a highlight. With an enormous delegation present in almost every sport, it is nice to see the random fencer next to LeBron James, smiling and of course most likely asking for a picture. After the uniform fiasco came to light, (there I said it — our mea culpa for overseas manufacturing) Mr. Lauren said this would never happen again and for the next Olympics they will be made in the U.S of A! Aside from all the politics, the boys and girls looked their Friday night best and I look forward to watching them go all the way.

Brazil: They always bring joie de vivre no matter what they do, and of course a little bit of Carnaval comes a long way. Brazilians sure know how to make colorful duds (which of course include a lot of muscles and mini skirts) sexy — obrigado darlings! And if this is just a sneak peek, can’t wait for 2016 in Rio!

Czech Republic: Sartorially speaking, the Czechs certainly win the gold. I loved their literal interpretation of the gloomy weather London is known for! Wellies and umbrellas always come in handy in the city that houses Big Ben and Parliament.

Great Britain: The host nation went for the white and gold and looked quite dapper! After mixed reviews for the uniforms designed by Stella McCartney, the athletes are ready to compete and I enjoyed the minimalistic and almost monochromatic approach.

Now time to see the Speedos, track shorts and parade of scantly clad hotties!

With summer certainly comes bright colors, bold prints and memorable ensembles. It’s fun to express yourself in an array of patterns but always remember…moderation is the key!
Florals are fantastic, just pair them with classic trousers to evoke a nice contrast. Not ready to brave the bulbs completely? Just add a bag or a scarf to your look to add some pizazz.
Some of the most talked about prints of the season must be Altuzarra’s S/S 2012 collection, which got accolades when it graced the runway in September. These are timeless pieces that spice up any summer.

Ryzenberg On: Midwinter Maxi Skirts

Don’t be sad we have a few weeks of winter left — just make the most of it. If you are tired of wearing pants, leggings and jeans, (repeat, wash, dry clean, repeat) lower your seams and go for maxi skirts.

These ultra long fun pieces not only elongate your gams, they are also a great transitional piece you can wear in spring and summer. Wear now with boots and a hat, and later with sandals or wedges. Jazz it up with some bold baubles to give it more of a bohemian feel.

A perfect cure to the winter blues and a sure bet to make you stand from the pack.
