Ryzenberg On: Dots & Pops

I know there are a smorgasbord of trends on this post, but if combined properly, it can indeed be a hit and provide a sprinkle of sassiness to any ensemble. I decided to add a dash of neon with the sandals and matching belt (inadvertently) and some metallics with the clutch.

Though it wasn’t appropriate to parade around in a polka dot bikini all day, I grabbed the next best thing out of my closet, a dotted sleeveless blouse that is almost a neutral. The chunky necklace simply adds fierceness and ties it all together.

If you feel this is a bit much , switch the green bottoms for white pants, or even a lighter denim. I tend to experiment when it comes to the color combos, but know that for some this could be overkill!

Ryzenberg On: Coachella Sartorialisms

Once a year, thousands of music fans flock to the desert for what has unofficially become the start of music festival season. Of course I am referring to Coachella.

This all-star parade of celebs, models and fashionistas often sets the bar pretty high for concerts and outdoor fun sartorialisms. Because I know how exhausting it is to look at hundreds of images of gorgeous people frolicking in the sun, I picked a handful of photos that show that laid-back California style as its best.

                  image

Tie Dyes and Flowing Dresses: It doesn’t get more Coachella than this look. Perfect for sitting down on the lawn and dealing with 100-plus temperatures. I am also a fan of the ethereal braids.

    image

Perfection. Period: This soft lace little number paired with oversized sunnies brings a bit of glamour to the polo fields. A denim jacket is a must, since temperatures dip to the 60s or even 50s at night.

    image

Cutoffs and Stripes: You thought I wasn’t going to feature this? Well, I guess you don’t know me at all! Also love the stacks (both arms) and fringe bag, which always reminds me of Stevie Nicks.

                       image

Prints & Textures: This look is about combining a variety of spring trends and doing them right. Colorful bag: Check, Crop top: Done and booties: Mission accomplished.

If you plan on going to any of the fun festivals this season, I give you the bare (but stylish) necessities:

Ryzenberg On: Getting Lucky at LuckyFABB Day 2

The second day at LuckyFABB was more of a learning, exploring, networking event filled with informative panels, amazing gifting suites and of course, new gals!

I started the day mingling with Amy from Amy’s Vintage Closet, Danielle from Lou What Wear and Ashley from Golden Divine and attended a chat with Guess North America Advertising Director Andrea Chao, who gave us all the tricks of the trade when it comes to pitching brands.

Soon after, I learned about affiliate programs and blog marketing from the CEO at Beso, and got a few new ideas and the juices flowing for this dog-and-pony show.

As if this wasn’t good enough, I spent the afternoon mingling with brands and visiting the incredible gift suites to find out about collaboration prospects, trends and good inspiration.

What an incredible two days it was and expect a lot of additional coverage, considering I have nearly 500 photos I want to share with y’alls! (but not all at once, I mean everything in moderation)

Ryzenberg On: Cut it Out

Sexy silhouettes is what the warmer months are all about. Now that April is here, time to take a look at the closet and do some major spring cleaning. Get rid of those boots, sweaters and heavy scarves and prepare to don a little bit more skin.

One of the biggest trends from the runway is the cutout and you will see it everywhere from arms, chest and even abs. What’s great about this look is how the cutouts automatically give the illusion of a slender figure. When done with the perfect material, this is dynamite look!

Check out how some of the pros are embracing it.

      image

Victoria Beckham: This trendsetter takes style to a whole new level. Mean, the neutrals, booties and peek-a-boo make this look ladylike without being too trashy. Such a perfect evening spring wedding look.

         image

Bagdley Mishka: Feminine, flirty and fun. That lavender is to die for and the flowy material gives it an etherial feel.

      image

Cushine et Ochs: These gals gave the trend a futuristic spin creating a fun dress that’s sexy and pops at all the right places. Also, simple sandals and perhaps a cuff is perfect as most of the attention will be drawn to the chest!

      image

Versace: Hello sex appeal! Donatella simply added magic to this peek-a-boo look, perfect for a beach wedding or even date night. This is the type of dress celebrities will flock to wear to a movie premiere, awards show or even editorial fashion shoots. Just divine!

Ryzenberg On: She Wears Short Skirts

So happy I found this images, though it’s a bit of a ‘Throwback Thursday,’ since they were taken last spring. The great thing this that all of these pieces are ready to make a comeback.

I love short skirts. When I lived in Miami, I wore them regularly, dressed them up for the night and donned them with flip flops for errands. Despite not having the luxury to sport them often, when the sun is out I put them on the rotation. They are fun, flirty and when worn to the right occasion, a hit.

Always remember:

Keep the top part conservative. Too much cleavage and leg can look cheap (trust, me even Miss 305 over here follows that).

*Heels work, but if it’s too short go for the flats. Better to be safe than sorry.

*Skirts with a poof are fantastic and very playful, tulle is always a winner too.

*Strut your stuff and own it! You will feel like a million bucks and it’s worth it.

Ryzenberg On: Hello Sunshine

Longer days, warmer air and blooms are back in full force! Welcome spring. I know that for many of us this means allergies also make an appearance, but hey, it’s time for a closet clean-up, change of style and softer hues.

So without further ado, I give you a few things I am certainly planning on donning this season. Of course, my signature (referring to my stacks) looks will make a cameo, and so will sunglasses, bold prints and sexy sandals.

What I love about this season’s sartorialisms is the return to the 1950s, a time where women often went for ladylike silhouettes, yet still evoked a je ne sais quoi feel, like sporting a crop top while on vacation, or even contrasting fantastic prints and textures.

My take on the black & white craze that is making a strong appearance this late winter and spring. While strolling in Georgetown, I decided to give the pink coat a rest and wear some neutrals that are easy and stylish!

Ryzenberg On: Peru Campeon!

               image

While perusing the papers this morning — well, more like surfing the web and its myriad of blogs, I stumbled upon this gem and couldn’t contain myself.

Vogue Paris is dedicating their April issue to my beloved home country, Peru. Of course, it is of no surprise that Super Mario Testino is its guest editor. Some of the fashion spreads feature Isabeli Fontana in Cuzco, Kate Moss frolicking on the Pacific Ocean beaches and Erin Wesson discovering the Nazca Treasures.

The issue hits newsstands on March 22, and I can guarantee y’alls I will be featuring some of the highlights on le blog! (see, I am already polishing my Français)

This brings a smile to my face, and so happy to see that this South American paradise is slowly (but surely) becoming a jet setting Mecca.

Ryzenberg On: In the Clear

When it comes to life, I wish more things were transparent (specifically, I am speaking about my dating life), but as you all know, that’s always a work in progress.

So here is the deal — despite my romantic ponderings and quest for a soulmate (which in my case always ends up more like a SOLEMATE) something besides boys caught my attention: Lucite Accessories.

These clear add-ons are perfect for late winter and spring, adding a pop of freshness to any look. These are also super versatile, as they can easily go from the office to the party.

Ryzenberg On: Oscars Safe Carpet

I guess someone has to say it, but I felt there were a lot of ‘safe’ looks during the Oscars this year. Sure the Jennifers (Lawrence, Aniston and Garner) looked STUNNING in Dior Haute Couture, Valentino and Gucci respectively, but personally I like when there are unexpected twists when it comes to the sartorial plots.

So now that we have all of that out of the way, I share my Academy Awards favorite picks — and happy that despite the usual beautiful ‘expected’ looks (I mean, few will master to make it on a worse dressed list), some gals still took it to the next level.

image

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive: Hands down my top pick. This off-the-shoulder Armani Prive metallic gown is structured, edgy and classic at the same time. She finished the look with Neil Lane baubles, a Roger Vivier clutch and Jimmy Choo heels. Now ladies and gentlemen, this is not a gown, but art!

image

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu: She’s been a red carpet darling this season and kudos for wearing color! Love the belt and intricate beading, which gives no need for jewels.

image

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive: Another Art Deco inspired look by Mr. Armani that is timeless, glamorous and simply beautiful. Although not exactly a ‘risk-taker’ the reason I loved this whole look is the way it is paired with the bold red lip and Harry Winston jewels is magnificent.

image

Halle Berry in Versace: The perfect dress for the Bond Girl! Wow, this little number is sexy (not in a trashy way like on the Golden Globes) and sultry. I feel it is age-appropriate (47 wowza!) without looking too old or like you are ‘trying too hard.’

So there, I did have a few picks that thought were worth mentioning, and what I liked most was that they all took me to the glamorous and fun days of the 1920s.

What were your favorites?
